If you are looking for a kitchen that is homey and rustic, this is the design for you. The dark stained cabinetry allows the grain of the wood to show through, knots and all. The cabinetry is then accented by heavy wrought iron hardware which is repeated in the light fixtures. Open shelving in the island along with the addition of a plate rack adds a homey touch to this kitchen. Built-in wine storage on either side of the plate rack is a very functional way to make good use of odd spaces. But even rustic spaces can benefit from modern features such as the sleek faucets and the built-in wine cooler.
The granite used in the countertop is called “rainforest” and offers enough color and movement in the pattern to add some interest to the kitchen. The light background of the granite keeps the room from becoming too dark and heavy. The counter has also been extended out enough to add a couple of barstools for an informal eating area.
Add a few down home accessories and you have a kitchen that welcomes everyone.
